Windows 10 Fall Creators Update has arrived. The new OS’ update is already here, being totally free just like any previous update, and it comes with a lot of changes and novelties for us to get used to. After such a radical change, and whether we have done a clean install of the new Windows 10 Fall Creators Update or gotten it via Windows Update, it is always recommended to check and update the OS’ apps, especially those that are essential for the OS to work well, like the antivirus.
Nowadays, it is mandatory to have an antivirus when using the Internet due to the large amount of threats hidden in the web. There currently are a wide range of different antivirus developed and kept up to date by several security vendors whose main goal is to protect our Windows system against all kind of threats lurking around the web.
It has been quite some time since Microsoft started to make the OS’ security its main priority. Although the company had Microsoft Security Essentials as some sort of basic Windows antivirus for a long time, it was until now with Windows 10 (especially with the Creators Update) that we were able to see how its successor, Windows Defender, turned into a great antivirus that the OS comes with out of the box.
Windows Defender has been improved even further with the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update. It now has new and interesting features, such as a native Exploit Protection tool for the OS and a feature for protecting our folders against the dreaded ransomware.
This is why we should ask ourselves what antivirus to install after getting the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update.
What antivirus should we install after getting the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update?
On a personal note, I would recommend Windows Defender. Although it should have arrived years ago, it is better late than never. I have been using Windows Defender since the day I installed the Windows 10 Creators Update and I have not missed any other antivirus nor felt unprotected for the past six months. This Windows 10’s free built-in security software is capable of protecting us against any threat that we may encounter when browsing the web.
Windows Defender for Windows 10 Fall Creators Update guarantees a maximum protection, as it is the only antivirus capable of using Windows 10’s security, protection and mitigation measures, while also impacting the PC’s performance and RAM memory much less than other security solutions. However, we realize that not everybody trusts Microsoft, so they prefer to depend on third-party security software.
In that case, let’s go back to AV-Test’s June 2017 tests for Windows 10. We recommend you any of the antivirus getting perfect scores on the tests, like Avira Antivirus Pro 15.0, Kaspersky Internet Security 17, Norton Security 22.9 or Trend Micro Internet Security 11.1.
We will have to wait for AV-Test to review again every antivirus’ latest version on Windows 10 Fall Creators Update. This way, we will be able to confirm what antivirus works best on Windows’ latest update.
